Fluttering Butterflies

Hello crafty folks! It's Monday and that means I get to share another project with you. A new challenge starts today (see post above) where we all get to play tic-tac-toe and choose three in a row!

I've made a tag (oh how I love tags!) using the Tim Holtz Tag & Bookplate die. The beautiful paper is Pink Paislee's Butterfly Garden, and my challenge row is "lace-distress-glitter". I wanted to showcase the birdcage and bird on the paper, so I built around them. There is a bit of distressed lace on the bottom (spritzed with Glimmer Mist). I age-distressed the edges of my tag with Vintage Photo ink and the flowers and butterfly spots are glittered with Stickles Star Dust.  The Prima vine is tinged with Tattered Rose Distress ink and touched with Stickles Star Dust. The butterflies are cut from one of the PP Butterfly Garden pages, and the hanger is made from apricot seam binding.

Thanks for visiting today! I hope you can be inspired with all our projects this week to challenge yourself to a game of Tic-Tac-Toe. You could win a $20 voucher from The Beary Scrap!

Cheers,
Susan

Favorite Blue Jeans

Hi! It's Gini with my new card for the Beary Scrap, and I have to admit, this challenge was my idea. Look in your closet and find some inspiration for your project, from one of your favorite things to wear. This can be clothes, jewelry, accessories - you name it! If you can wear it, let it be your inspiration.

I love embellished jeans, so I added a ribbon of old denim, with a strip of paper, and Dew Drops over it. I adhered the denim with Scor-tape which held it perfectly. The papers are from Prima's Sweet Fairy line, (including the cute tickets that I cut from one of the pages.) The stamps/dies are from Prickley Pear.

Take 2 for Gini's sketch

Hi, it's Gini here with my 2nd project for the Beary Scrap's June sketch. This week I used the gorgeous papers from Prima's Reflections line. With a great sketch, a card can really come together quickly. I sprayed a Tattered Angels frame with Glimmer Mist, cut out a Spellbinder's butterfly, and added a couple of seam binding ribbons. For my butterfly's body, I added some white Kaisercraft pearls.

Remember, today is your last day to play along with us! We will be back with a new challenge tomorrow.

Dream

Hi! It's Gini with my first try at this month's sketch. I really love the elegant feel of this one. I recently got a bunch of Ranger's Alcohol Inks, and used them to created a background for my stamped image. Let me give you a warning though - if your gold mixative isn't squirting out like it should - don't squeeze it too hard, or you could end up with gold all over your desk, clothes and face - just sayin'....

After I got cleaned up, and my background had dried, I stamped the Chapel Road stamp using StazOn Ink. The flower was made using the Tim Hotlz Tattered Florals die.

You have until June 15th to play along with us - we can't wait to see what you will create!

Papers: Prima - Madeline collection, Bazzill
Stamps: Chapel Road - Margaret
Ink/Paint: Ranger Alcohol Ink, Ranger Paint Dauber, StazOn
Embellishments: Kaisercraft Pearls, Seam Binding - Lollipop Pink, Vintage Glass Glitter: Fucshia
Dies: Tattered Florals
Adhesives: ATG Glue Gun, Fabri-Tac, Scor-tape
Tools: Blending Tool

Wish ...

Hello all and welcome to my latest edition of The Beary Scrap Challenge -- 'Nature' plus a charm for us this week!

My nature embellishments are a gorgeous Wood Shape No. 4 dragonfly from Pink Paislee's Butterfly Garden Collection that I inked with paint, liberally applied glitter and then adhered a snipett of vintage lace and Kaisercraft pearls, a pretty little blue bird in flight atop an image of vintage sheet music paper, and a pretty little blossom from Prima!

The beautiful papers are Botanical from Prima and I added a few little bobbles of Kaisercraft Latte Pearls!

I used JustRite's Signs of Life cling stamp set along with a couple of Spellbinders rectangle and circle scalloped dies to complete my design!  The charm and ticket are both from Tim Holtz.

Thank you so much for popping by today for a visit with me!  I'll be back here again next Thursday with another creation for The Beary Scrap Challenge Blog!

Until then, happy stamping :)

Hugs!

A Fairy Good Friend

Belles n Whistles stamps are in the house at Beary Scrap! And since we are continuing with our nature challenge, I knew that A Fairy Good Friend would be a great choice. Continuing with the fairy theme (LOL), I used the Fairy Flora paper from Prima. The snail's shell is paper pieced, and his body was coated with Glossy Accents. I added a seam binding bow, with a vintage button and Tim Holtz charm.

There is still plenty of time to join our challenge if you haven't already!

The Fluttering of Nature

Hello hello! I hope you had a great weekend. Rain threatened but the skies never opened up here, and Sunday afternoon ended up gorgeous. I love spring!

Yesterday we launched our newest Beary Sweet Challenge with a theme of "Nature". I've pulled a few flowers and the butterfly came along - how much more nature can one get? The embossed area in the center is for a photo that slides right in the top.

This is part of a set for a friend to give to a bride and her mother. You can see the first "card frame" on last week's post HERE. By the way, if you saw it last week in it's not-quite-finished stage, check it out now. It's finished and so much better! *grin*

Thanks for stopping in today. There are 2 weeks to enter your Nature-inspired project in our challenge - you could win a $20 gift voucher from The Beary Scrap!
See you there!

Butterfly Notes

Well, it's Friday again already and here I am with my last "Things with Wings" project-- this time with an insect-- and I am back to butterflies again because I just can't get enough of them! My project this week is an altered tin "Notes" holder, the perfect little container for storing handmade cards all ready to be sent out .

I used the Prima Marketing Sparkling Spring 6x6 paper pad and it is just perfect to add flitting butterflies too. I attached the paper to the front of my tin with good old Glue Dots (I prefer Zots by ThermoWeb but I also use the Glue Dots brand a lot). I have tried many different types of adhesives for putting paper on tin and found that the best thing is still glue dots. I edged all my papers with Tim Holtz Distess Ink in Vintage Photo, with the help of a finger dauber to smooth the edges and give the ink a nice soft look (a blending tool does the same thing).

To embellish the front of my tin, I created my own banner spelling "Notes" and then also made some felt flowers by cutting a small circle from felt, then starting at the outside and cutting in a spiral until I reached the middle. Then I put a large bit of hot glue in the spot I wanted and starting from the outside edge in, wound the felt round and round to create a flower, finishing off with a pearl for the center. (Aleene's Tacky Glue works great too, I just used hot glue because I was in a hurry! :)) I added felt leaves and some pearl floral centers to my flowers as well.

Here are some 3-D views of the top of the tin to show how the butterfly and flowers pop up:

And also a quick look at the inside cards-- they are just simple, without any sentiments, that way they can be used for whatever!

I have really enjoyed visiting your blogs and looking at your Things with Wings creations, I hope to see a few more before the challenge deadline on April 30 at 11:59 EST. Click here for all the details! Thanks for sharing your creativity with us!

Add a Feather

Happy Friday to you! I've been so excited to see all of the beautiful creations you have entered in our Things with Wings challenge-- keep up the entries, you have until April 30 at 11:59 EST to enter for your chance to win a voucher to The Beary Scrap.

Here is my second creation for Things with Wings -- this time adding a feather! I used the Prima 6x6 paper pads-- Madeline for my card and love all the papers that come in this little book. This one is sold out but check out all the other gorgeous combinations -- 48 sheets of paper for only $4.00!

I cut around the scrolls of this paper then distressed it with my Zutter Distress-it-All and added Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Walnut Stain. Then I just had a blast adding all those fun embellishments-- mulberry paper roses, hand crocheted flower, rhinestones, lace, net and sequin trim and, of course, feathers!

Have a lovely weekend and take some time to create something beautiful!

A Sketch in Pastel

Hello hello! Happy Monday to you. This week the design team is showing more variations of our Beary Sweet April Sketch challenge. It's such a fun, easy one! We're adding a little extra challenge to each other to add pastel colors in our projects.

I'm still on my bird kick, so here's another version of a bird 'n cage. Funny little note - the *last* thing I feel about life is "caged in", yet I continue to play with the concept. At least the bird on this card is outside the wires!

My papers are from the Prima Fairy Flora 6x6 pad. There is quite a selection of Prima pads in the store now, and they are *all* delicious!

So that's it for me - thanks for visiting! There are still a few days to whip up a project and enter into our BSC #23 challenge. You could win a $20 gift voucher!

A Little Spin On Our New Sketch Challenge

We have a new sketch challenge at
I went on a Scrapbook Bus tour on Sunday and that involves 4 scrapbook stores and they all have a coach bus that rotates around all the stores and was so much fun I walked of the bus like a bag lady I had so many new goodies and I even won 2 prizes. At one of the stores I saw a tiny little shadow box and it was actually a kit by Darcie Crafts and I thought I can make that with Spellbinders. So I made up my template and started cutting out my pieces to make my own shadow box, I used just about every food box I have in my kitchen to make enough pieces to make my little box thick enough to put in my Baby Tear Bear. It was funny my husband didn't even know what I was doing till he went into the kitchen and saw bags of cereal and crackers and other yummys sitting on the counter without the boxes.

Now I couldn't even tell you how many layers my box is I never counted I just kept adding till my Baby Bear fit. I used the very pretty papers from the 6x6 Prima Fairy Flora Pad and my 12x12 paper is from Graphic 45's Once Upon A Springtime Collection. I also blinged this up with Stickles, German Glass Glitter and Dew Drops. My flowers were punched out with EK Sucess Retro Flower Punch and the butterflies were punched with a Martha Stewart punch and they both were inked with Colorbox Inks. My Baby Bear was made with an Acrylic Pattern and Mulberry Paper. My leaves is Sizzix Branch w/ Leaves Die.  I tryed to take pictures from different angles to show that my shadow box spins in the center. This has 4 small photo boxes made with Spellbinders.
Now lets see what you can make with our sketch.

This cute little piggy was made with Mulberry Paper and inked with Colorbox Inks. My background paper is one of the new 6x6 paper pads from Prima
Fairy Flora

Ribbons and Spring!

Hi, it's Gini. While I've been enjoying some nice spring weather, it sounds like many of you are still stuck in winter. Why not bring a little spring cheer into your house by playing along with our current challenge? You only have a few more days to enter, if you haven't done so yet. To wrap up the last few days of the challenge, we decided to add some ribbons to the mix.

Kimm has gotten so many wonderful new 6 x 6 designer pads in - and today, I have used Prima's Annalee collection. I added ribbons from May Arts and My Mind's eye. My stamp is from Heartfelt Creations, and I cut the frame using Spellbinder's Labels 2. The image was colored with Copics, and then I painted a light coat of Stickles over that.

Our new challenge will be posted on Friday, so mark your calendars to come back and play!
