My Mother's Day Card Sketch Challenge

Ready for a fun Sketch from The Beary Scrap?
Well we have a good one for you on this challenge.
This is my Mother's Day Card and if could send it to Heaven this is where this card would be going.
I colored up my Simply Sassy Stamp Artistic Goddess with Copics and added Stickles to her headband and glasses. I cut my mats out with Spellbinders and added Colorbox Ink and Stickles. My paper is from Echo Park For The Record. I used some felt lace and ribbon from my stash as well as my Mulberry Flowers that yes were white and I airbrushed them with Copics to match my colors of my Simply Sassy Image.

That was so much fun to do and I think I will be doing this again. I added 4 black Pearls in the corners.
Now lets see what you can do with this sketch.

Thanks for looking.

This sketch is in the bag!

Sometimes it's good to go rummaging through drawers - you find things you forgot about. This weekend I was looking for something, and stumbled across this little purse template (from about 10 years ago). I thought, hmmm.....that was cute, and didn't think any more about it. Then I pulled out the papers that I wanted to use for my Beary Scrap card this week - Cosmo Cricket Upcycle - and I saw the papers with the little purses...and a light went off! So sometimes projects come together after careful thought and planning and other times - it's just a happy whim!

After I put the purse together, I added some Tim Holtz chain for the handle, a handmade flower to dress it up a little and some Kaisercraft pearls to finish it off.

So do you have a great project story that just fell together? I'd love to hear it!

Tilda Jumps for Joy!

Hello crafty friends! It's Monday after a busy gardening weekend, which means I'm feeling achy but good after all that weeding. Phew! Who knew some weeds just don't die over the winter? I've got this wicked grassy stuff that sends out runners and .... oh my, you don't need to hear about my herb bed woes. Let's take a look at my card for this week, then! *So* much more fun.

We have a new sketch challenge for you, and I was inspired to color up a Magnolia stamp. I *know*! It's been a long time, but Tilda doesn't seem to be bothered - she's jumping for joy!

I layered her up and used copious amounts of Star Dust Stickles. The papers are the fun and springy Old World Cabbage Stew from Jillibean Soup. The butterflies are vintage images printed and cut out - I added wire antennae and Stickles for a little more detail. The pins are homemade.

Our Beary Sweet Sketch challenge goes on through May 14 - we'd love to see your entries based on this sketch. C'mon over and play!

It's sketch time!!!

Happy Sunday Morning to you all.  It's Kimm here with you to kick of our new challenge!  I hope you have been having a wonderful weekend and the sun is shining wherever you are.  I am so excited to be here with you all this week.

It's the first of the month and that means it is time for a new challenge at The Beary Scrap.  It's a sketch, and a fabulous one at that.  I have decided to challenge myself to make the time to participate at least twice a month.  My ultimate goal is to participate every week.  For now I'm just going to keep my goals obtainable.

I so miss my craft space since the shop has taken up residence there.  I've been working off the dining room table and still digging through bins to find my supplies.  One thing I can say is that it feels SO GOOD to be creating again.  I realized that I was missing a HUGE part of me since November when I had everything boxed up and no place to work.  When I sit down with some papers, stamps, markers... I feel back at home again.  It's like food for the soul!

This week I am also joined by my little princess Lindsay.  She's home with me, so Mommy can't create anything without her working side by side with me.

Now for my card...

My image is another Magnolia stamp.  She's been colored with Copic.  I don't remember the colors I used.  I got a little carried away with the stamping around the image, but I really like the concept.  The accent stamp is from Bo Bunny's Midnight frost stamp pack.  Again, I am using papers from My Mind's Eye Just Dreamy 2 line.  I just love these papers and the colors are so perfect for spring and summer. All my papers are distressed, inked up with distress ink, sewn and dazzled with a little Stardust Stickles.  I used a piece of corrugated board and pained that up with some antique linen acrylic paint and more distress ink.  I used a piece of Leandro Blue seam binding.  Flowers are both Prima and Beary Scrap Mulberry Paper Flowers.  I attached a few beads to my stick pins and added a cute heart charm that I found in my stash.  Lastly, I added some lace and a few KaiserCraft Pearls.

And here is Lindsay's Card.  I helped with sizing her paper cuts, but she did most of the work.
Lindsay used another adorable image from Magnolia.  She's been colored with coloring pencils.  I made a bow for her out of some ribbons she picked out of my bin.  Papers are from My Mind's Eye Laundry Line collection.  Very simply, but she's only 4 and she loves to see her cards posted on my blog.  She's going to need one of her own soon. :)

Here is the sketch we are working with.

I have a new blog, separate from the store blog.  I would love for you to come and be a stalker :)!  You can find my blog HERE.  I'm also on facebook for my crafty friends too HERE.  You are welcome to send me a friend request.  I'll be happy to add you.

Thank you for stopping by for a visit.  I'll be stopping by to see you too.  I can't wait to see what you create with the sketch.

Until next time

Hugs

A Card to Say Hello

Ahh, the weekend finds us again. I am especially excited about this weekend because I am going to the Scrapbook Expo! But before I do that, I wanted to share with you a card that I made for a friend of mine.

I will be seeing this friend of mine at the Expo and I thought it would be the perfect occasion to make a card for her.  I started by taking a piece of Kraft paper from my stash and using it as the base of the card. Then I took four different patterned papers from the Cosmo Cricket Upcycle Mini Deck and inked them with Tim Holtz Distress Ink. Then I machine sewed my squares of patterned paper in a wonky, zig zag fashion. I let all the imperfections be as it is generally my motto that imperfection is interesting and beautiful.

I took some seam binding and scrunched it up and adhered it with some glue dots. Then I took a brad from the My Mind's Eye Lost and Found line and put it in the center of my scrunched "flower." I used another glue dot to adhere the butterfly to the side of the "flower," and added a paper doily cut in half from my stash. I used the Martha Stewart Large Double Arches Punch  to punch a border strip in another piece of patterned paper from the Upcycle Mini Deck.

Lastly, I took a label sticker from my stash and used My Little Shoebox's Mini Alphas to make the sentiment (love those alphas!).

I really hope you'll be inspired to join us for this Wings challenge. If you do decide to participate, please have your creations linked up before 11:59 EST tonight (April 30th). Thanks for looking!

Butterfly Notes

Well, it's Friday again already and here I am with my last "Things with Wings" project-- this time with an insect-- and I am back to butterflies again because I just can't get enough of them! My project this week is an altered tin "Notes" holder, the perfect little container for storing handmade cards all ready to be sent out .

I used the Prima Marketing Sparkling Spring 6x6 paper pad and it is just perfect to add flitting butterflies too. I attached the paper to the front of my tin with good old Glue Dots (I prefer Zots by ThermoWeb but I also use the Glue Dots brand a lot). I have tried many different types of adhesives for putting paper on tin and found that the best thing is still glue dots. I edged all my papers with Tim Holtz Distess Ink in Vintage Photo, with the help of a finger dauber to smooth the edges and give the ink a nice soft look (a blending tool does the same thing).

To embellish the front of my tin, I created my own banner spelling "Notes" and then also made some felt flowers by cutting a small circle from felt, then starting at the outside and cutting in a spiral until I reached the middle. Then I put a large bit of hot glue in the spot I wanted and starting from the outside edge in, wound the felt round and round to create a flower, finishing off with a pearl for the center. (Aleene's Tacky Glue works great too, I just used hot glue because I was in a hurry! :)) I added felt leaves and some pearl floral centers to my flowers as well.

Here are some 3-D views of the top of the tin to show how the butterfly and flowers pop up:

And also a quick look at the inside cards-- they are just simple, without any sentiments, that way they can be used for whatever!

I have really enjoyed visiting your blogs and looking at your Things with Wings creations, I hope to see a few more before the challenge deadline on April 30 at 11:59 EST. Click here for all the details! Thanks for sharing your creativity with us!

For You ...

Hi everyone and welcome to The Beary Scrap today!  This week we are challenging everyone to create a card based on our WINGS theme and the DT are using insects in their creations this week too!  I chose one of my favie spring and summer insects ... the beautiful BUTTERFLY!

I began my design with a Wood Shape from Pink Paislee's Butterfly Garden Collection.  I inked it and then added some sugar glitter!  The pretty little flowers in the middle are white 20mm Mulberry paper roses that I spritzed with Cherub Pink glimmer mist from Tattered Angels to give them a rosey hue!

I added a pretty little button and tag tied on with green baker's twine.  The sweet pearls on the tag and on the embossed flowers are Latte Basics from KaiserCraft.

I used Pink Paislee's Butterfly Garden - Flower Blooms and Echo Park's For the Record - Newsprint for the base of my card.  The top has a pink pearl flourish and 3-D stamped heart and the bottom is embossed and inked with pink paint to create a time-worn look!

I can't wait to see what you create inspired by our WINGS challenge this week here at The Beary Scrap!  You have until April 30th to enter!

Thanks for peeking in today and have a wonderfully stampy day!

Hugs,  Debbie
