Crazy Cousin

Hello everyone! It's Brenda again, and I am so excited to show you the layout I made for this "wings" themed challenge.

I don't think it's any secret that I love butterflies. Well, actually, let me rephrase that--- I love to look at butterflies and I love to use butterflies on my layouts, but should a butterfly land on me, I freak out. Hey, it's still a bug even if it is a pretty bug! Anyhow, I digress. These next couple of weeks of creating for me will be so much fun because I love to use birds and butterflies and all sorts of things with things on my layouts and other projects.

For this week's layout, I scrapped one of my all-time-favorite pictures of my daughter with her older cousin. I should explain that my daughter was entirely too tired to be taking these pictures, but having all the cousins together is such a rarity, I couldn't just let her go to sleep without getting some pictures.  Well Harper made sure to tell me how she felt about this forced photo shoot with all the zany expressions she was giving.

I used one of my favorite lines again, Echo Park's For the Record. I can't get enough of it! There are just too many possibilities with these papers. I distressed my papers by running them through my Distrezz-it-all  and then inking the edges with Distress Inks using the Ranger Blending Tool

I wanted to add a little more color and visual interest, so I rolled down the edge of the paper and fastened it with a My Mind's Eye Lost and Found brad  and a sticker from the For the Record elements sticker sheet. I wanted to put the first part of my journalling up there but thought it would be too tough to read, so I painted a little area with Distress Crackle Paint in Old Paper. I then stitched around my journalling spot and used one of the stickers from For the Record for this part of the journalling.

For the title, I used alphas from For the Record on the words "your" and "crazy" and "cousin" is using alphas from my stash.

I placed a label sticker from For the Record and then I stitched some more. I used another of the word stickers from the Elements sheet for the continuation of the journalling.

And lastly, I used another label and word sticker to finish off the journalling. For the embellishment under the photo, I layered two die cut butterflies cut out from FTR paper and put a button from my stash in the middle. I placed the butterfly over two border stickers from the kit.

I had so much fun playing around with the idea of this theme, and I hope you will too when you join us. Don't forget, you have until April 30th to upload your creations! Thanks so much for looking and have a wonderful weekend!

Butterfly Wings

Welcome to our brand new Beary Sweet Challenge, I am first up again and absolutely thrilled to show you my layout of "Things with Wings." Two weeks ago, we had a "girls" trip to Las Vegas, Nevada (about 10 hours from where I live). My youngest sister and her family live there and so my other sister and I took our daughters, along with my mom, to visit for Spring Break. We had a fabulous time, soaking up some much needed sun by the pool and visiting some Vegas sights (I do have a picture of daughter with some Elvis impersonators-- I'll save that for another week!).

One of the highlights was lunch at Serendipity 3- a really fun restaurant near Caesar's Palace (check out our frozen hot chocolate, yum!)- and visiting the Bellagio Conservatory which was planted with tulips, poppies and even butterflies! These were the perfect pictures for my layout this week--

I had so much fun making this layout and using lots of fun new goodies from the store including Pink Paislee's Butterfly Garden papers (absolutely gorgeous!) and charms.

Other great stuff I used includes seam binding-- new for me but oh so much fun! I spritzed with water and crinkled it up then sprayed with Pearl Gimmer Mist and adhered to my layout with glue lines. Seam binding in many colors will be in stock soon so check the store website! I also used lace and some handmade crocheted flowers-- I must still be on that vintage kick that seems to be going on around here!

Supplies used:
Bazzill Cardstock
Pink Paislee Butterfly Garden paper collection
Pink Paislee Butterfly Garden charms
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist- Pearl
Colorbox Fluid Chalk- Chestnut Roan
Seam Binding
Lace
Crocheted flowers
Assorted brads
JoLee's butterfly stickers
Assorted alphabet stickers

Thanks for looking and have a lovely weekend! Take some time to create your own project that has "Things with Wings" and enter it in our challenge for a chance to win a voucher to The Beary Scrap.

Wishing You a Wonderful ...

Hello everyone and welcome!  It's my turn again today to inspire you with another interpretation of our current sketch challenge #23 that you can find HERE!  Today we're asked to use the sketch and pastels - yummy!  Pastels are my favie go-to color palette to design with :)

I decided to give my hand a try this time on one of the absolutely {adorable} Tear Bear animals that Kimm has in her shop!  I've been a long-time admirer of these sweet little cuties, and was super excited to receive the patterns, papers and tools to get busy creating!  I chose to design with the oh-so-cute Bella Bunny ... isn't she precious!!!  For my first attempt, I am pleased with the way she turned out ... so soft and cuddly IRL!  I used The Complete Tear Bear Making Kit to assemble this little sweetie!

Additional accessories I used from The Beary Sweet Paper Crafting Boutique on this card are as follows:

Prima  Sparkling Spring 6 x 6 patterned paper

I'm in love with how this sweet little card turned out and completely {smitten} with those adorable tear bear animals!  Hop on over to the shop to check them out ... so CUTE!

Thanks for peeking in today!  I cannot wait to see what you'll create this week using this fun sketch and some pastels:)

Hugs!

The Beary Scraps Sketch Challenge

You only have a couple of days left for our  Sketch Challenge and here is a little more inspiration for you. I got my inspiration from the other Beary Scrap girls and deceided to try my hand at more of a vintage theme.

My card recipe:
Papers from Pink Paislee Butterfly Garden, they were all distresses and inked with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink. My Wooden Butterfly is also from Pink Paislee and was colored with Pink Colorbox Ink and Tim Holtz Vintage Photo and sprayed with Glimmer Mist. I added Stickles and German Glass Glitter to my papers. I used some ribbons, hat pins and from my stash and Mulberry Flowers. I used Spellbinders to cut out my mats. I have add some Pearls to the corners. Make sure you enter or challenge you only have a couple of days before we start our new one.

Thanks for looking.

Sweet

Hi! It's Gini ready to share my second try at this month's sketch. The Design Team decided to challenge ourselves to use pastels. I don't really work well with pastels - so this is as close as I got! You may have to hunt for my sketch a little - but it's right there on the center panel!

I was delighted to jump into using Butterfly Garden by Pink Paislee. I used the papers, baubles, Ephemera and the Clear Pops. Many of the embellishments are already sold out, but Kimm will be getting more in. I used a Prima mask, and added some Glimmer Mist to help frame my center panel. I thought this layout would be the perfect spot to highlight the May Arts Sheer Woven Rosette trim. I added Kaisercraft pearls to the center of each flower.

You have until April 14th to play along with our sketch. We would love to see what you come up with!

A Sketch in Pastel

Hello hello! Happy Monday to you. This week the design team is showing more variations of our Beary Sweet April Sketch challenge. It's such a fun, easy one! We're adding a little extra challenge to each other to add pastel colors in our projects.

I'm still on my bird kick, so here's another version of a bird 'n cage. Funny little note - the *last* thing I feel about life is "caged in", yet I continue to play with the concept. At least the bird on this card is outside the wires!

My papers are from the Prima Fairy Flora 6x6 pad. There is quite a selection of Prima pads in the store now, and they are *all* delicious!

Card Recipe
So that's it for me - thanks for visiting! There are still a few days to whip up a project and enter into our BSC #23 challenge. You could win a $20 gift voucher!

Cheers,
Susan

The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow

Hi there, It's Brenda again. I hope that wherever you are, warmer weather is starting to find you. I know here it has been hot, so I'm sure that means the weather is nice somewhere, right?

On this day last year, I was due with my daughter. And boy was I ever ready for her to come out (she ended up being 8 days late)! Since she was born, I have taken monthly pictures of her with these onesie stickers that have her age in months on them. She is generally pretty good-natured, but I always seem to try to take pictures when she is hungry or tired or both. Inevitably, each month I get a good crying picture, and this one was too cute not too scrap. She really does have the best pout.

For this week, I did the sketch with the added challenge of using pastels. What better way to use pastels than to use Echo Park's Springtime line? For the two background rectangles, I stitched in alternating color threads to imitate a rainbow. Then I filled in the rectangles with various-sized punched circles (.75", 1", and 1.5").

I then used the stickers from the Springtime line as my journaling space and little accents. The brad in the middle of the purple flower is from My Mind's Eye Lost and Found Madison collection.

For the clouds and sun, I put my background cardstock (Bazzill) through my die cutter and then put two pieces of paper from the My Mind's Eye Alphabet Soup Boy collection to accent the cut out shapes. This could just as easily be done with paper punches. Then I stitched around the cut outs to further accent them. On the sun's rays, I put some Glossy Accents to give it a little depth and extra something.

For the title, I used the alphas that come with the Springtime line. Aren't they adorable? And so versatile, too!

Extra supplies used:

Thank you all so much for looking. Please do join us in this sketch challenge! You have until 11:59 pm on April 14th to upload your projects. I look forward to being inspired by you all.
