Patricia's Goodbye

On March 2, 2010 was my very first post with TBS and the very new challenge blog and now that it comes to an end I have made some very awesome life time friends. Even tho it's sad that this challenge blog is ending it is not like were saying goodbye forever. We will all still be out there in blogland.
When I first started making the tear bears it was so hard to find any information out on how to make them. They were a very guarded secret with those who knew how to make them. Then I found Kimm and her awesome Acrylic Paper Piecing Patterns to make them. With a few emails back and fourth with Kimm I was on my way to tear heaven and haven't stopped since. When Kimm and Susan sent out the request for a Design Team and I applied I never thought I would stand a chance and they believed in me and I can't thank them enough for giving me a chance to be on this team. Over the time here my style has been evolving and still is. I have just in the last couple of weeks changed up how I make my Tear Critters to make them more my own and now with the fun I have been having with Kimm's other new adventure with Beary Sweet Designs I can bring my Tear Critters to another whole new level.

For my last post here I have made this cute photo mat set.

Made with....
Acrylic Paper Piecing Pattern
Mulberry Paper
Fabri Tac Glue
Colorbox Ink
Paper from Echo Park Merry Christmas
Misc flowers and stickers from stash

I'm not saying goodbye to my teammates but reflecting on how they have inspired me over the years.

Double, Double, Toil and Trouble. . .

Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg, and owlet's wing,—
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and caldron bubble.

MacBeth Act IV Scene 1

Here I am with my second Double or Nothing post and this week is dedicated to our DT leader Susan (and a guy named William!)-- who inspired me early this week by saying she was waiting to see a Double, Double Toil and Trouble project! I guess I haven't had enough of Halloween because that got me in the mood for a little Shakespeare (I do have an English minor!) and a double dose of Tear Bear Witches.

And so my Double or Nothing project this week is a DOUBLE pair of Halloween birthday days with DOUBLE Tear Bear Witches to wish my two nieces a DOUBLE Halloween birthday! (Yes it's true, these two sisters, turning 8 and 5 this year, share that spooky day a birthday. If you read my Halloween post last year, you might know who else shares that day with them! Hint: There's a reason I like Halloween so much!)

Here's a look at the front of my Halloween birthday cards, the Tear Bears are decorated with all kinds of cute Halloween stickers and bling.

A closeup of one of the cards:

So, did you figure it out? Yep, it's my birthday too on Halloween, we are a whole freaky family of witches. And what I would love the most for my birthday is for YOU to enter our Double or Nothing challenge so I can visit your blogs and get inspired by your talented projects, so be sure to link up your project by 11:59 EST on Halloween night for your chance to win!

Travelin' Teddy

Hi there crafty friends! Happy Monday to you. Before I chat up this week's project, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Guest Designer Brenda, who posted her last project this past Saturday. Sweetie, thank you so much for bringing such fun projects to our challenges. You and I have very different styles yet I learned something new from you almost every week over the last 3 months. It's been amazing to see what you design, and I am completely honest when I say you've taught me to think differently. Thanks Brenda!

This week the design team is continuing with our DIY embellishments to go along with our Do It Yourself Embellishment challenge. We're adding a little extra challenge to include red, white *or* blue, and the best I could come up with was the lovely white mulberry roses. See, Travelin' Teddy here had his own ideas about how this card was going to turn out...

For today's project I decided to make a mulberry paper "Tear Bear" as my DIY. It's been a looong time for me - at least a year! You may not know this, but Tear Bears are what brought me to The Beary Scrap in the first place. I was a novice bear maker and our very own Kimm was incredibly patient while I learned. I peppered her with a million questions and she answered every one of them with kindness. These days the Beary Sweet Designs acrylic patterns make it *so easy* to whip up a Tear Bear, and the written instructions HERE are brilliant.

I used the Tattered Teddy pattern on this card. Since Tattered Teddy came out, I've been playing around with the idea of making him slouch against a dress form die cut on a very shabby chic styled card. It turned out that my dress form die is too small for Teddy, so I went in a different direction with this project. Or rather, Teddy wanted to go in a lot of different directions and become a world traveler! (One day I will do it, but with the Baby Bear pattern instead.)

Here's Travelin' Teddy, working his way around the globe!

Card Recipe
Thanks for visiting today! Our DIY Embellishment challenge goes on through Thursday night - come play with us! You could win a $20 gift voucher to The Beary Scrap! Thursday is also the last day for Guest Designer Debbie. *sob* It's been a thrill to have both Debbie and Brenda with us for the last 3 months. I can't believe it's almost over. Ladies, thanks for all your wonderfully inspiring projects!

Cheers,
Susan

Sketch Challenge Take 2

Have you played in our Sketch Challenge at
The Beary Scrap Challenges?
Here is another sample of our sketch challenge this week I got to make and us designers had to add Seam Binding and the Leondro Blue is a perfect match for the Bo Bunny Gabrielle Collection. I used the 6X6 Paper Pad for my card.

I made my Tattered Teddy Paper Piecing Pattern with Mulberry Paper and made it into a Statue of Liberty Bear with a pattern from Treasure Box Designs. My USA mini bottle caps are from my stash and sit on top of some Flowers. I added some Robbins Nest Dew Drops to the side. My papers were Inked with Colorbox Ink and the whole card was glued together with Fabri-Tac Glue. Lets see your project for our Sketch Challenge and enter it ---HERE---

The Beary Scraps Sketch Challenge Plus Embossing

Here is my card for our Sketch Challenge and the added Challenge for the Design Team --Embossing.

I used the new Bo Bunny papers from the Gabrielle Flight and I have to say I think this is my favorite paper by far, I love love love it. If you haven't seen it in person you have to get this. For my embossing I used white card stock with embossed dots and cut out with dies and added Colorbox Ink. I used the Rolling Ball Embosser from EK Sucess to shape my flowers. I also made my Tattered Teddy with an Acrylic Pattern and Mulberry Paper and also highlighted with Colorbox Ink. I put together my tear bear with Fabri-Tac Glue.
Now lets see your sketch and enter your card--HERE--
