Happy Day

The weekend! Whew. What a sigh of relief. I have been sick this week and still have had to go to work on top of mommy duties. Please forgive me if this blog post is shorter than usual. Also, I should mention that I made this layout, took pictures, and wrote up the blog post before I realized that I totally forgot about the additional challenge this week of embossing. Oh my! I'm so sorry! Can I just blame it on my foggy sick-brain?

Anyhow, I used My Mind's Eye Fine and Dandy on this layout about visiting with my daughter's great grandma. This line is so so cute! I used the True Blue and Tickled Pink Chipboard for the loop de loop, the title, the stars, and the sun/flower, the Tickled Pink Banner Stickers, and True Blue Patterned Papers.

Additional Supplies Used:

Thanks for looking! I do hope that you will be able to join us in this sketch challenge. Just remember to have your project uploaded by tonight, May 14th, at 11:59 EST!

Makin' a Splash!

Hello all! I am back after having taken last week off to recuperate from some surgery on my Achilles tendon. I am doing great but moving very slow (on crutches/wheelchair!) and glad I have something as fun as this sketch to occupy my time while I am a bit homebound! :)

This was a really fun sketch to work with -- great for cards and simple to convert into a 12 x 12 layout. I just used the top layer of rectangles for matting my pictures and was able to fit six wallet size pictures of my daughter and nieces having a great time swimming during our Spring Break in Las Vegas.

I used the new Echo Park Playground collection-- its bright colors are perfect for fun summer pictures. Okay, it's not quite summer yet, though we are finally having spring here! But those days are coming so stock up on that fun paper now and you'll be ready to record all your summer memories. I edged the pages of all my papers with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Broken China. I also stitched around the page and switched up my stitch occasionally to give it a different look.

I used the great letter stickers that came with the Playground collection but added different colors of Stickles to each letter for some sparkle. This was my first chance to use my brand new color-- Midnight Blue (on the dark blue S) and I love it! There are so many colors of Stickles to choose from!

I also used some of the element stickers from the same collection-- the banner across the top, words and sun and cloud stickers. Some I stitched around, some added Stickles and other popped up with foam squares for dimensions. It's awesome how many things you can do with just one paper collection!

I've enjoyed seeing all of your lovely creations based on this sketch, thanks for joining in our Beary Sweet Challenge. Good luck and hope some wonderful sunny weather is finding you!

Celebrate ...

Hello all and welcome to The Beary Scrap Challenge Blog!  Today I am sharing another fun card with our current sketch challenge and the Design Team was additionally asked to use embossing on our inspiration cards the week ... I love to emboss paper!!

These fun 6" x 6" papers are from My Mind's Eye - Fine and Dandy Collection.  They are so bright and cheery ... they just make me 'happy'!!!  I used a couple of Kaisercraft pink rhinestones on the sentiment tag to add a bit of bling and sparkle!

The delicious turquoise paper flower is from Prima - Trellis Roses Fontaine.

You have until May 14th to give this fun sketch a try ... I cannot wait to see what you'll create :)

Thanks for peeking in today -- have a wonderful stampy day!

The Beary Scraps Sketch Challenge Plus Embossing

Here is my card for our Sketch Challenge and the added Challenge for the Design Team --Embossing.

I used the new Bo Bunny papers from the Gabrielle Flight and I have to say I think this is my favorite paper by far, I love love love it. If you haven't seen it in person you have to get this. For my embossing I used white card stock with embossed dots and cut out with dies and added Colorbox Ink. I used the Rolling Ball Embosser from EK Sucess to shape my flowers. I also made my Tattered Teddy with an Acrylic Pattern and Mulberry Paper and also highlighted with Colorbox Ink. I put together my tear bear with Fabri-Tac Glue.
Now lets see your sketch and enter your card--HERE--
Thanks for looking.

Sunshine Makes Me Happy

Hi! It's Gini. This is the time of the year I love - the sun is shining, the flowers are blooming and summer is just around the corner. Every time I look at Echo Park's Springtime collection, it just makes me smile. I don't usually use a lot of stickers, but there is something about Echo Park's stickers, that come with their collections, that just call out to me to use them!

The flower panel was another great "find" in this collection. It had some really cute flowers printed on it, but I decided it would be fun to add some of the Beary Scrap's mulberry flowers over the printed ones. My flowers were a little too big, so I removed the bottom two layers and glued them on. Did you notice that yummy Leandro Blue seam binding winding it's way across my card? I decided it is much more fun to add wrinkles to something than to try to get rid of them!

You still have time to join the sketch challenge for a wonderful chance to win a $20 gift certificate to the Beary Scrap!

A Frame Inside A Sketch!

Hello hello and happy Monday to you! We're smack dab in the middle of our May sketch challenge and the design team is bringing more samples to tickle your fancy and get your creative juices flowing. This week we're adding a little extra design team challenge - embossing.

A friend wants a set of frame cards as gifts for a wedding shower. One for the bride and one for the bride's mom. How nice!

The wedding colors include a teal-ish blue, so I went with the deliciously muted tones of papers from the Prima Botanical 6x6 stack. The lace-covered frame has an opening at the top for the photo.

My embossing was done with folders - the dots give the blank "pre-photo" area a little interest, and the embossed swirl above the flower mirror the pearly swirls.

It's hard to see in this photo, but the easel panel on the bottom has the same swirl embossing as the front.

Card Recipe

Paper: Prima Botanical 6x6 stack; Bazzill Basics Truffle and Avalanche
Medium: Distress Ink in Vintage Photo; Distress Stickles in Star Dust
Embellishments: (3)Kaisercraft Pearls in Snow; Flower, lace, pearl swirls from stash
Adhesive: Scor-tape; EK Success 3D Foam Dots in 1/8" and 1/16"

Thanks for visiting - check back all week for great samples from our design team! There's still time to enter your project using our Beary Sweet sketch - you could win a $20 gift voucher to The Beary Scrap!

Cheers,
Susan

Alphabet Soup

I don't think it's any secret; I have a thing for Alphabet Soup. No, I'm not talking about the kind of soup my mom used to give me when it was cold out (although, come to think of it, I have a thing for that as well). I'm talking about My Mind's Eye Alphabet Soup. It is so darn cute! I might only have a daughter, but I had to get both the boy and the girl sets because they have such a broad appeal. I have made several cards and layouts out of these papers and love each one of them, and this layout is no exception!

For a few years now, my husband and I have gotten into the habit of blowing kisses to each other from across the room but basically just smacking our lips and not actually blowing. It was so cute when our daughter Harper picked up on it at about 7 or 8 months. Whenever she does it, it's like she has to put so much effort into making the noise. She squeezes in her cute little cheeks and opens her mouth with a loud smack. So adorable! Anyhow, I've called it her fishy face for quite a while now and when I saw this card from the Alphabet Soup Boys Playing Card pack, I knew it was meant to be!

I took two different patterned papers from the girls Alphabet Soup collection kit and cut out strips of circles. Then I weaved them somewhat to give it a more cohesive look. Then I used my sewing machine to stitch around the edges of the background paper. I used the Martha Stewart Double Arch Punch to make a little border from one of the patterned papers. I added alphas from my stash to complete the title, and then used the fish from the Boys Chipboard Elements and the journalling block from the Boys Diecut Elements to finish off the page.

Thanks so much for looking. I really enjoyed using this sketch and hope to see you all join us in this challenge. Please have your projects linked up by May 14th at 11:59 pm ET to be included in the drawing for the prize voucher!

Vintage Style ...

Hello all and welcome to my project for this week here at The Beary Scrap Challenge Blog.  We're working with a sketch this week and next and you can find all the details on #25 HERE!

I love this sketch ... so many pretty layers and lots of opportunity to add bits and bobs of lovely treasures!  My papers are all from the Prima Annalee 6" x 6" paper pack - {swoon}!  I began with a tag that I stamped a button card image on and then decorated it with real buttons and Prima Mini Roses - Coral Fushia Pink ... sweet!

I added some tea-stained twill tape, Cameo Beige Shabby Vintage Seam Binding, a couple of sewing pins, a painted dress form chipboard piece and a beautiful Prima Trellis Rose Fontaine flower!  A few bits of vintage lace I picked up at an antique show last weekend, some baker's twine and a rusty jingle bell finish off this handmade from the heart treasure!

I hope you can give this fun sketch a try ... you have until May 14th!  Until next Thursday, thanks for peeking in today and have a wonderful stampy day!!

Hugs, Debbie

My Mother's Day Card Sketch Challenge

Ready for a fun Sketch from The Beary Scrap?
Well we have a good one for you on this challenge.
This is my Mother's Day Card and if could send it to Heaven this is where this card would be going.
I colored up my Simply Sassy Stamp Artistic Goddess with Copics and added Stickles to her headband and glasses. I cut my mats out with Spellbinders and added Colorbox Ink and Stickles. My paper is from Echo Park For The Record. I used some felt lace and ribbon from my stash as well as my Mulberry Flowers that yes were white and I airbrushed them with Copics to match my colors of my Simply Sassy Image.

That was so much fun to do and I think I will be doing this again. I added 4 black Pearls in the corners.
Now lets see what you can do with this sketch.

Thanks for looking.

This sketch is in the bag!

Sometimes it's good to go rummaging through drawers - you find things you forgot about. This weekend I was looking for something, and stumbled across this little purse template (from about 10 years ago). I thought, hmmm.....that was cute, and didn't think any more about it. Then I pulled out the papers that I wanted to use for my Beary Scrap card this week - Cosmo Cricket Upcycle - and I saw the papers with the little purses...and a light went off! So sometimes projects come together after careful thought and planning and other times - it's just a happy whim!

After I put the purse together, I added some Tim Holtz chain for the handle, a handmade flower to dress it up a little and some Kaisercraft pearls to finish it off.

So do you have a great project story that just fell together? I'd love to hear it!

Tilda Jumps for Joy!

Hello crafty friends! It's Monday after a busy gardening weekend, which means I'm feeling achy but good after all that weeding. Phew! Who knew some weeds just don't die over the winter? I've got this wicked grassy stuff that sends out runners and .... oh my, you don't need to hear about my herb bed woes. Let's take a look at my card for this week, then! *So* much more fun.

We have a new sketch challenge for you, and I was inspired to color up a Magnolia stamp. I *know*! It's been a long time, but Tilda doesn't seem to be bothered - she's jumping for joy!

I layered her up and used copious amounts of Star Dust Stickles. The papers are the fun and springy Old World Cabbage Stew from Jillibean Soup. The butterflies are vintage images printed and cut out - I added wire antennae and Stickles for a little more detail. The pins are homemade.

Our Beary Sweet Sketch challenge goes on through May 14 - we'd love to see your entries based on this sketch. C'mon over and play!
