Take Note of that Sketch

Happy Friday-- I hope a small bit of Spring weather is finding you out there! I am excited to show you my 2nd version of our current sketch-- for my project this week I have embellished a box for keeping greeting cards and I hope you can see the sketch in there somewhere (I promise it's there on the front :):))!

I have used the For the Record collection by Echo Park and I love these papers-- a little bit bright, a little bit vintage, with black accents, it's perfect! I used several of the sticker accents on the front, along with some lace and Prima trellis roses. My roses were originally white but I sprayed them with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Brick to match the paper.

Inside I created dividers with different categories of greeting cards. Now it's all ready to fill up and organize some great handmade cards.

Now, it's your turn-- let's see how you interpret this sketch and enter it in our current Beary Sweet Challenge before April 14 11:59 EST. I can't wait to see your beautiful creations!

{Carte Postale} with a sketch!

Hello everyone and welcome to the April Sketch Challenge #23 here at The Beary Scrap Challenge Blog!  Today I am tickled pink to have the pleasure of sharing my very first design as a Guest Designer with The Beary Scrap Design Team Girlies - how fun!!

My name is Debbie Marcinkiewicz and my blog is Simple Treasures!  I love to share little bits and bobs of my paper crafted handmade from the heart treasures with my bloggity friends!

Click HERE for the current sketch that runs from April 1st - 14th.

I am smitten with these new Graphic 45 Once Upon A Springtime papers {swoon}!  I've also used a snipett of Echo Park's For the Record - Newsprint paper ... so pretty!

The pretty little handmade bloom has a May Arts Sheer Woven Rosette in green adhered to the center of the bob, the tag has a couple sweet Kaiser Craft Pearls in Latte and the little green button is embellished with a couple teeny tiny Mulberry Paper Rosebuds in white.  YUM!

To finish off this shabby little design, I added some cream paint to all the paper edges to create a time-worn look, a bit of baker's twine, a sparkly trinket pin, a vintage key charm, some die cut leaves and a sweet little butterfly, a scrap of vintage lace trim and a few postcard-themed stamped images.

Thanks for peeking in today and allowing me to share this project with you.  I'm looking forward to seeing what you will create using this fun sketch and inspiration I've provided today!

Be sure to come back and visit with me again next Thursday when I have an all-new project to share!  This is going to be a fun couple of months while I'm guest designing here at The Beary Scrap!

Hugs

A Little Spin On Our New Sketch Challenge

We have a new sketch challenge at
I went on a Scrapbook Bus tour on Sunday and that involves 4 scrapbook stores and they all have a coach bus that rotates around all the stores and was so much fun I walked of the bus like a bag lady I had so many new goodies and I even won 2 prizes. At one of the stores I saw a tiny little shadow box and it was actually a kit by Darcie Crafts and I thought I can make that with Spellbinders. So I made up my template and started cutting out my pieces to make my own shadow box, I used just about every food box I have in my kitchen to make enough pieces to make my little box thick enough to put in my Baby Tear Bear. It was funny my husband didn't even know what I was doing till he went into the kitchen and saw bags of cereal and crackers and other yummys sitting on the counter without the boxes.

Now I couldn't even tell you how many layers my box is I never counted I just kept adding till my Baby Bear fit. I used the very pretty papers from the 6x6 Prima Fairy Flora Pad and my 12x12 paper is from Graphic 45's Once Upon A Springtime Collection. I also blinged this up with Stickles, German Glass Glitter and Dew Drops. My flowers were punched out with EK Sucess Retro Flower Punch and the butterflies were punched with a Martha Stewart punch and they both were inked with Colorbox Inks. My Baby Bear was made with an Acrylic Pattern and Mulberry Paper. My leaves is Sizzix Branch w/ Leaves Die.  I tryed to take pictures from different angles to show that my shadow box spins in the center. This has 4 small photo boxes made with Spellbinders.
Now lets see what you can make with our sketch.

Tattered Florals

Hi! It's Gini -showing up late this morning! I thought I had scheduled my post this weekend, and had apparently just loaded the picture onto my blog. So sorry! But here is my take on our new sketch.

I found a really cool technique using embossing powders and copics and wanted to try it out. It's the Copics Glimmer technique and was really fun and different. For my papers, I used Basic Grey's Curio. The stamps were from Tim Holtz. Also, I made the flower using Tim's Tattered Florals die from Sizzix.

We hope you will play along with us!

April Sketch

Hello crafty friends! Here we are in another month, a new week and a sparkly new sketch challenge here at the Beary Scrap DT & Challenge blog! It's a simple sketch but you know me - I went and complicated the whole thing with floof and stuff all over the front of my card!

I *promise* you that the sketch is there! Luckily the inside panel reflects the clean and simple version...

I made this card for Connie's birthday.... Oh, you don't know Connie? Neither do I, actually. A lovely local lady requested the card for a friend right after she received one of my designs for her own birthday. How nice is that?

I used Basic Grey's Capella papers - remember that line? It's so easy to get caught up in the "new" and lose sight of what is already on hand. Every month Kimm gets new paper lines into the store and I ooh-n-ahh over it. Very quickly the gotta have it - gotta use it now now now feeling sets in and last month's lovelies get pushed aside.

Not anymore! At least, not for right now. I poked around my TBS bins and found the beautiful Basic Grey Capella line and all those warm fuzzies came rushing back. It was like an old friend reaching out for a much-needed hug... too much? *ahem* I'll move on.

Here's the whole kit and caboodle:

That's it for my sketch sample. Please go HERE to our sketch challenge and join in the fun - you could win a $20 gift voucher from The Beary Scrap!

Sleeping Beauty

Hi everyone! It's Brenda Smith here. I am so excited to be joining the Beary Scrap as a Guest Designer, and am even more excited to help introduce this month's fabulous sketch challenge.

While I was leafing through my photos, I knew I wanted to do something with this one of my daughter last May because it's just too stinkin' cute (I know, I might be a little biased)! Luckily for me, The Beary Scrap Store had just the perfect papers to match this photo: Echo Park's For the Record. Echo Park has been one of my favorite manufacturers since they showed up on the scene last year, and they absolutely knocked it out of the park with this line! It is so incredibly versatile and can be used on layouts about sweet little baby girls, boys, layouts about yourself, and just about any other topic. My dilemma was in choosing which papers to use in the kit because they are ALL so pretty.

I started by distressing my papers using Zutter's Distrezz-it-all and then using Tim Holtz Distress Inks with the Ranger Ink Blending Tool to apply the ink evenly. Then I used my Scotch Pink ATG Gun to glue down the papers, making sure to not glue the very edges because I wanted to have them stick off of the paper a little bit. I splattered some Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint in Broken China to add a little interest and to also complement the blues in the papers. I then laid down a sticker from the For the Record kit with a brad from the My Mind's Eye Lost and Found Market Street collection. Then I layered various-sized flower punches to make a dimensional flower.

The journaling spot and the tab on the side of the photo are also from the For the Record kit. I distressed the journaling tag just like I did the other papers.

For the "Sleeping" part of the title, I used the letter stickers from the For the Record kit and gave them some added dimension by popping them up with EK Success 3D Foam Dots. The "beauty" letter stickers are from my stash.

That's all from me this week. Thanks so much for looking! We really hope you join us in this sketch challenge. Remember you have until April 14th to get your entries in. I look forward to seeing what you make!

Our New Beary Sweet Sketch & Challenge

Welcome to April and our brand new Sketch Challenge! I am so excited to be able to be the first to show you my take on the sketch (I have never been the first one up before!)-- this was such a fun and simple sketch, I just let my imagination go and this is what I came up with:

I used the "Once Upon a Springtime Line" from Graphic 45-- these papers are absolutely beautiful! I used several different sheets of the patterned paper plus some of the diecuts. I used one of the ready made framesto highlight my large photo of my daughter after she had lost a tooth and then cut up some of the other pages to add flowers and a fairy to my tooth fairy page.

I popped up the images I cut out with foam squares and then added lots of Stickles for some shine!

It was wonderful to see all the great entries for our March challenges, I hope to see lots for April too so be sure to enter your take on the sketch before April 14 at 11:50 EST. Good Luck!
