It's a Tear Bear Christmas

It's so hard to believe that there is only 149 more shopping days left till Christmas, Sorry had to go there. But the girls at
The Beary Scrap this week have giving you some really good inspiration for some holiday projects and cards.
Have you seen the new Tear Bear Patterns that Kimm has now available at the Store, they are super cute. When I saw Penny the Penguin I new that she would be perfect for my card. When the mail showed up there was my box of goodies in the mail and Penny was in there.

This card was so much fun to make I hope you like it.

This was so much fun to make. I used a paper bag album and took it apart and makes for a nice card base. I glued in ribbon on the inside of my mats so it made a tie to hold the card together. For my mats I used just plain card stock and sprayed it with Glimmer Mist, I must admit I don't use Glimmer Mist a lot but it added a really nice sparkle to my background that I will be using a lot of it now. To bad the pictures don't really show it but its very pretty. I used a the Martha Stewart snow flake boarder punch for the snow. I also added a little bit of light blue Ink to the snow flakes.
For my Tear Critters I used the Reindeer, Tear Bear and Penny the Penguin. The Beary Scrap just got in a new shipment of Mulberry Paper so go check out all the pretty colors there. I also used some stickers by Jolee's and I also used Tim Holtz Tissue Tape on the background which worked perfect for the holiday theme. I used Spellbinders to cut my little mats added Ink, and Stickles and some snowflake buttons. Hand Stitching and some little star pearls.

Your running out of time to enter our
Beary Sweet Challenge so make sure you get your card posted soon.

Thanks so much for looking.

Christmas Treats

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I hope you are enjoying the Holidays here at The Beary Scrap and that you are finding lots of holiday inspiration.

Oh wait, it might be a little early to be wishing you all a Happy Holiday season but it is never too early to start planning your gift list. The earlier I get done planning, buying and wrapping all my gifts the more I can actually enjoy the Christmas season. My sister and I always go shopping for 3 days the first week of November, get it all done and then try to relax! (The key word there is TRY, we don't always get it all accomplished, but we do try.) And I am always looking for a cute little gift to give to friends, neighbors and coworkers-- so here is trio of quick and easy treats you can make for the holidays.

Treat #1: A Mug Card with Hot Chocolate and a candy cane.

Get a free downloadable pattern for this card here. Make a copy of the pattern and cut it out, then trace it on double sided cardstock. Fold in half and use glue dots to stick the card together. I like to cut the handle of the mug off of my pattern and then use a candy cane for the handle instead, I just tape it to the back of the card and then tie some ribbons around it. Decorate the front of the card and add your desired sentiment. Slip a packet of hot cocoa inside and you have an instead gift.

Treat #2: Folded Candy Box

Cut a strip of patterend cardstock that measures 9 inches x 3 inches. Score the paper at 4, 5, and 6 inches. Then use a punch or die cut machine (I used my Sizzix) to cut out a Christmas shape from the front of the box. Fill a small craft bag with Christmas candy and fold up the box around it, stapling it all together at the top with some cute ribbon. Decorate the front as desired and add a holiday sentiment.

Treat #3: Twist Container

Visit this blog to view the original instructions and pictures. I made my twist container by cutting a piece of patterned cardstock that was 6 x 8 inches. I used Glue Lines along one of the 6 inch sides and partway down the 8 inch side to stick the container together.

Fold one of the 6 inch sides up to make a tube, overlapping about 1/2 inch and stick it together, gently creasing the sides.

Then pinch one of the ends together (where there are already glue lines).

Use a paper crimper to seal the ends together, it also looks cute!

Fill the container with a treat-- candy or a small gift or even a gift certificate to somewhere fun-- and then pinch the other ends together the opposite direction and seal it with more glue lines.

Decorate the outside as desired, add a tag and sentiment and you have a super cute gift for someone special!

I used Basic Grey's Eskimo Kisses line for all of my Christmas treats, which are all currently on sale at The Beary Scrap! This is a really fun, non-traditional Christmas color line that has cool patterns and includes pink, purple and turquoise in the color scheme. I love that all the Basic Grey papers are double sided, giving me more to choose from for the same price! I used coordinating cardstock stickers from the same line, Basic Grey buttons, and some Kaiser Craft Rhinestones to decorate my treats.

I wish you all the best of luck in your holiday planning this year (yes, I know it's July but remember I said it's never to early to start!) And remember, you still have a few more days to enter our Beary Sweet Challenge and win an awesome prize pack from The Beary Scrap.

Christmas Collage

Hello hello! It's the end of July and -for many of us- the hottest time of the year. While out and about today the car thermostat read 102°! [I am most definitely jealous of all our readers in the Southern Hemisphere right now!] Sooo, what better time than to think Christmas (and cold weather for me)?

This week the Design Team will celebrate Christmas in July *and* sponsor a Christmas-themed challenge over at ABC Christmas Challenges (starting Wednesday 7/28). Come join us!

This just in: The Beary Scrap is extending the Christmas in July 25% Everything sale through Tuesday! Use discount code JULY25 at checkout to get the sale price on everything you buy - even clearance stuff! Oh, *and* you'll receive a 15% off coupon/code for your next purchase before September 30th. Click HERE now!

I had fun with this card! I LOVE the "Snowed In" line from My Mind's Eye and couldn't wait for this challenge. Here's a bonus for you: It's on sale right now!

I cut out the bird on the "Merry Christmas" paper and outlined his body and random feathers with Stickles Star Dust. I used a second bird for a popped-up wing - I have to have my 3D! The tree is from the Snowed In Accessory Sheet, which includes loads of other great die-cuts, too. I colored the ornaments with Stickles Star Dust and Diamond. You know Star Dust is my favorite Stickles, and Diamond runs a close second with it's gold tint.

I stamped Merry & Bright with black pigment ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. I love the effect next to the Dew Drops! I crumpled up the tag before stamping, and inked the edges after embossing. In this photo you can also see my Stickles randomness on the birdie.

Ok, one more photo - I trimmed off a bit of the Prima border pack rhinestones to create the bird's Christmas song. Corny... but neat, no? (I have to get this off my chest: in "real life" the birdies tootsies are on top of the tag instead of under it... *sigh*)

Card Recipe
Thanks so much for visiting us this week. I don't know about you, but I can't wait to see what the rest of the team comes up with for this theme - love it! If you're in the Christmas mode, too, you can participate in the challenge at ABC Christmas Challenge (starts Wednesday, July 28) and possibly win a $20 gift voucher from The Beary Scrap! Whoo hoo!

And definitely don't forget we have our Beary Sweet Challenge #6 going on right now - click HERE for all the details!

What a Yummy Color Combination!

Jamie did a fabulous job picking our color challenge this week at the Beary Scrap! Pink and yellow and brown - yum! I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing all of the creations this week, and I HOPE you have too!

I used some of my favorite standbys for today's card - My Mind's Eye Laundry Line papers, some of Kimm's fabulous new mulberry flowers, and Lemonaide Anyone? stamp from Belles n Whistles - colored with my copics. This color palate just seemed perfect for a nice tall glass of lemonade on a hot summer day.

Remember, you still have until July 31st to play our sketch challenge.

Summer Loving Tilda

The Beary Sweet Girls have made some really nice projects this week with Jamie's color theme. The colors work very nice together.
Here is my card this week.

I got the right sunlight look at the Stickles sparkle and there is no photo touch ups there.

My background paper is by Pink Paislee the Starlight Dazzle its a very pretty paper in person. I also used some miscellaneous card stock from my growing stash, It's amazon how quickly it adds up. I used Spellbinders to cut out my mats and added Distressed Inks and Stickles. I also added Stickles to my Mulberry Flowers. I used Martha Stewart butterfly punch and some Bo Bunny Buttons. Of course hand stitching and some pretty pink Pearls
My Magnolia Tilda was colored with Copics and I added Stickles to her wing, flowers, and socks.  Are you getting the feeling I like Stickles, lol.

There is still time to join us in our Beary Sweet Challenge.

I Hope You Dance

I hope you are all enjoying our DT's creations with the crazy color combo I picked this week: Pink, Brown & Yellow. I don't know why, but I just thought those three sounded fun. I have loved seeing those colors used in Susan and Elise's darling cards so far this week and I had a great time designing my page around those colors!

These three colors fit the photos I took of my 6 year old daughter Lindsey's ballet class just perfect! I used the backside of a pink Bo Bunny Double Dot cardstock for the base on the right hand side-- the back of these double dot papers have a nice textured look, with just slight color variations in the paper to give it some interest. To that I added a perfect pink, brown and yellow scalloped circle paper from My Little Shoebox's "Whoo Loves You?" line and a strip of brown Double Dot cardstock from Bo Bunny.

I just used plain white cardstock for the left hand side, since it's mostly covered with pictures anyway (I love to see how many pictures I can get on a page-- I like them to look good, but I definitely want to make the most of my space! ) At the far left hand side I added a strip of Bo Bunny Calypso Love paper and then a strip of brown Double Dot that I punched with a Martha Stewart border bunch. After adhering all my ballerina pictures, I added one more small piece of brown Double Dot and then used My Little Shoebox tiny alphabet letters to add the names of all the girls in Lindsey's class.

Every ballerina page needs flowers! And so I added some Prima Sprites in pink and brown to my page. Behind a few of the flowers I added a little pink tulle from Bazzill, inked the edges of the pink ones with Chestnut Roan ink from Colorbox and added a little Cotton Candy pink Stickles to the petals of the brown ones.

The flower centers are pink brads from Doodlebug and yellow brads from Bo Bunny. These Bodacious Double Dot brads from Bo Bunny are so cute! They are fun, bright colors and most of the brads have different designs, making them really versatile, plus there are 24 brads in a package (12 large, 12 small) for only $4.00. What a deal!

Lastly, my title uses self adhesive chipboard letters from Bo Bunny, plus some more of the tiny alphabet stickers from My Little Shoebox. Some stickles around the edge of the chipboard letters and a little tulle finish it off. Actually, I'll let you in on a secret! I had already used the "d" from this set of letters so I substituted an "a" and cut an "l" in half and stuck them together. Then I put the tulle bow right over the seam to hide it and it looks just like a "d." Get creative with your letter stickers to make them go further!

I hope you liked my Pink/Brown/ Yellow creation and maybe you'll want to include those colors in whatever you're making this week! Don't forget, though, to make something using our sketch and enter it in our Beary Sweet Challenge! Become a follower and link your pic before midnight, July 31st for your chance to win an awesome prize pack from The Beary Scrap. Have a lovely week and go out and DANCE!

Heart Full of Hugs

Hello!  Hope you are all having a great Wednesday!  As you already know from the lovely Susan, this week, we are using the colors Pink, Yellow and Brown!  I love it!!!

I decided to made a gatefold card, and halfway through it, I'm deciding to do extra things to it, and *ahem*, I'm still not completely done with it!  lol!!!  But, I've enjoyed doing this tremendously, since I've not done a gatefold card in a long long time!  :)

And I decided to use an Easter Magnolia stamp ... which in my opinion, can be used for almost anything at all!  Tilda looks like she's thoroughly enjoying her company with this little baby lamb, and I think it can be interpreted in any way you'd like.  For me ... a sign of friendship and hugs!!  :)  Don't you hold a friendship with both hands and treasure it dearly?!  Yes, you most certainly do .. just like Tilda is holding her little dear friend here!  :)

Yes, going through making this card, I thought "Hey, why not put a couple of portraits of Tilda's on the inside tags?"  lol!  I had a lot of fun making this!

Okay, now if you're wondering why I have each link on a separate line ... it's because Blogger won't allow me to do more than one link per line.  lol!  hmmm....

Hope you have a FANTASTIC Wednesday and don't forget to stop by the rest of the week to check out my fellow DT's inspiration here!

It's a DT Color Challenge!

Hello hello! Here we are at another Monday, which means another challenge for the design team. This week we're getting creative with Jamie's color pick:

Yellow, Pink and Brown

I have to admit I was shakin' in my shoes at this combination... until I took a closer look at Basic Grey's Capella line. It's perfect! I paired it with the absolute perfect stamp for this challege - Kraftin' Kimmie's Angry Ballerina. She's in a pig costume - could it get any better?

Sketch Week

I have loved seeing all of the beautiful projects created using the sketch this week! I know that I will save this one and use it again.

For my card I used Kraftin Kimmie Angry Ballerina. I think this image is so funny! Did you notice those gorgeous roses? Those are the new mulberry roses that Kimm is carrying. You will love these! Also, you know I really am addicted to MME Laundry Line papers. I think I could use them on every card!

I hope you have a chance to play with us on this gorgeous sketch challenge!

It's Sketch Week at The Beary Scrap

This week at The Beary Scrap we are playing with a sketch that Kimm made for us to play with. This is such a fun sketch it's one for the keep file.
Here is my card for this week.

After seeing Elisa's great tutorial I had to give it a try.
I used the Martha Stewart Butterfly Border Punch. It worked really easy to wrap around my Spellbinder mat. For the stamp I used a new stamp from CLP Blossom Fairy Cammy. I colored her with Copics and added glitter to her wings.  I also added Stickles the the butterflies on the Martha Stewart Border Punch. I used some Mulbery Flowers and also added Stickles to them.
My background paper is from Basic Grey Cappella Line. I added some miscellaneous gem brads from my stash, and hand stitching.

Now I have been blog hoping all over the net and I have seen quite a few of these really cool boxes and really wanted to try one. The Scor Pal makes it real easy to make your folds.

There is 4 small draws around the box and my easel card sits right on top. This was really fun to make.

I hope you can join us this week for our Beary Sweet Challenge. We had so many wonderful cards entered and I would love to see even more cards for this challenge. Thanks so much for looking.

Hey Buffa-lopes!

So, this title probably needs some explanation-- I'm sure most of you have never heard of a "buffa-lope" but those of us traveling with my 3 year old to Yellowstone National Park Memorial Day weekend this year heard about them all day long! Jace has never seen a buffalo before and he somehow combined buffalo and antelope into one word, which we all thought was very cute! There were so many buffalo, many with tiny babies since it was springtime, and when they walked right down the middle of the road, Jace would yell "Hey Buffa-lopes!"

I used Kimm's awesome sketch this week to capture Jace's cute words and the story that goes with it. To turn that sketch into a 2 page layout, imagine that I grabbed onto it with both hands and stretched it horizontally until it would cover a two page spread. My elements are a bit bigger, spread a little further apart, allowing me to use just that great sketch to quickly design two scrapbook pages.

The background of my layout is Bazzill's Swiss Dot Cardstock. This cardstock differs from Bo Bunny Double Dot as it has actual tiny embossed dots all over it, giving it a really nice texture. Then I used patterned papers from Bo Bunny's brand new line, Roughin' It, for the rectangles in the sketch-- enlarging and stretching them so they reached over both pages. The edges of all my papers are inked with ColorBox ink in Chestnut Roan. This new Bo Bunny line is perfect for any type of outdoor summer activity-- camping, hiking, four wheeling, sightseeing, even making smores! It also has tons of cute matching embellishments and stickers-- make sure to grab some for your summer adventures!

For my scalloped circle, I wanted to use just the outside edge and so I traced the size circle I wanted, then cut it out using scalloped scissors. Then I went back with regular scissors and cut out the inside of the circle so I had just the scalloped edge left.

Then I used only about 3/4 of the circle and wrapped it around some of my pictures. This was a really good way for me to add a touch of red & blue (since the rest of the page is mostly green & brown) from one of the patterened papers without it being too much.

I used stickers from both the alpha combo sheet and Catching Memories sheet to embellish the page, as well as some buttons from Basic Grey tied with hemp cord. The title is from the Bo Bunny alpha combo sheet which is so handy to have a sticker sheet that has both letters and some shapes. I also used tiny letters from My Little Shoebox to add the subtitles and I absolutely love these tiny alphabets. They come with so many letters for such a great price and it includes several different fonts which are fun to mix and match.

Oh, I just love sketches and this one was so fun to work with! I hope you will join us in our sketch challenge during the next two weeks and show us what you can create using this sketch. Hope you are all having a great summer, enjoying the great outdoors and that some of you out there might just see a "buffa-lope" or two!

Make A Wish

Hello!  Well, as you already know, Kimm has given us this lovely sketch to work with this week ... and oh how much fun I had with this!  ;)  It's also my turn to do a little tutorial, and this is my very FIRST tutorial ever in blogland ... lol .. so please bear with me.  hehe!

Here's my card, and what I'll be trying to show is how to do a circle punch frame around your image.

So here's some supplies you will need, as you can see, it doesn't require much:
- paper
- Martha Stewart border punch or any border punch you'd prefer to use
- scissors

Start by punching out a long border.  I used a 8.5x11" paper, but I would recommend a 12x12.  After punching the border, trim it about an inch from the bottom of the border so it will look like this:

Cut straight lines right up to the bottom of the border at each interval (for this one, I cut at the end of each flower design)

I then folded each section and layered it like shown:

I placed glue dots on every other section.  You most certainly can place glue dots on every section if that's what you'd prefer.  :)

Then I start at a place on the image that I know will be covered by some type of embellishment ... just incase the ends don't meet properly ... lol!

Keep going around and you'll find that the border will circle right around the image very easily.

And voila you're done!  Now for me, I ran out of border (of course it had to happen to me!  lol!).  So what I did was made a little more border and just added to it.    And that's it!  Easy peasy!!!

Hope that was okay!  And if there is something that I didn't explain too clearly, please don't hesitate to ask me ... I'd be more than happy to help!  :)

Thank you so much for visiting us here at the Beary Scrap blog!  And don't forget to come back to see the rest of my fabulous fellow DT's creations!  ;)
